New Refuel Café and Soft Play at Mansfield Swimming and Fitness Complex
One of our most recent projects is the brand new Refuel café and Soft Play area, replacing and upgrading facilities at the Water Meadows Swimming and Fitness Complex in Mansfield.
One of the premier indoor water based attractions in the East Midlands, this family-friendly complex has something for everyone – you can swim, ride the flumes in the Leisure Pool, workout in the Fitness Suite or go to any one of the 80 fitness classes running each week!
Investing over £200,000, Mansfield District Leisure Trust and Mansfield District Council’s aim was to improve facilities at Water Meadows so that visitors to could enjoy food and a drink in the Refuel Cafe after a swim, and families could enjoy more play facilities and stay for the day.
As there wasn’t an architect involved in this project, Smallman and Son designed and built everything needed for fitting out the new café and Soft Play areas. All the kitchen units, fitted counters and internal doors were made as bespoke items in Smallman & Son’s in-house workshop.
We had a dozen-strong Smallman & Son team on site over the six week project which involved plumbing, carpentry, and air conditioning ducting and more; installing the suspended ceiling, plastering walls, laying new floor coverings, decorating and fitting new laminated, internal doors and kitchen units. We even supplied all the kitchen appliances too; fridges, water boiler, dishwasher and Panini grills.
The new Refuel Cafe has a seating area, as well as a ‘Grab and Go’ facility serving a range of fresh, tasty and healthy snacks, sandwiches, soups and salads. The adventure Soft Play area has fantastic climbing areas, slides, cargo netting and a baby and toddler area with interactive toys. For children up to 12 years old, parents can watch them jumping, climbing, running and having fun in a secure and friendly environment.
