“Smallman & Son won the contract to refurbish 50 New Walk back in 2014/15. Since then they have continued to support us through sponsoring equipment and events. Danielle and Chantelle Garrity are great ambassadors for our charity and often invite us to events and find other opportunities for us to network and raise awareness of the work that we do.”

Christina Wigmore, Business Development Director

For 32 years Soft Touch Arts has been creating opportunity for and changing the lives of some of Leicestershire’s most disadvantaged young people.  Each year they work with around 1000 young people who need extra support because of challenging life circumstances. They use creative activities such as art, design, music and cooking to engage young people and build their confidence, life skills and wellbeing so they can progress with education and employment goals and live more independent and fulfilling lives.

Soft Touch Arts

We are proud to support Soft Touch Arts; an award-winning Leicester-based charity that uses arts, media and music activities as a tool to engage with and change the lives of disadvantaged young people. Since completing their refurbishment in 2015, we have supported this inspirational charity and worked with Christina Wigmore, Soft Touch Arts Business Development Director, to raise awareness of the incredible work that they do every day. Members of our team enjoy attending Soft Touch Arts fundraisers and exhibitions. We recently attended their fantastic “Unlocked” exhibition at New Walk Museum, which was very inspiring and thought-provoking.

In our Smallman meeting room, we have our “Soft Touch Arts wall” in which a piece of artwork created by one of the young people is proudly displayed. This piece of art changes every 3-4 months and raises awareness of Soft Touch Arts. Often, clients and visitors comment on the talent of the young artists.

We are passionate about the work that Soft Touch Arts does for our local community; it is something very close to our heart as a family business.
