MIPIM UK – putting Leicester on the map for investors
Hosted at Olympia London in October, MIPIM UK is the country’s largest property exhibition and conference for national and international property professionals. The MIPIM UK Awards, in association with real estate magazine Estates Gazette, recognise and reward the efforts of developers and their partners from private and public sectors, working together to revitalise cities and towns across the UK.
Perhaps to be expected, major cities London, Manchester and Birmingham did tend to dominate this year’s list of winning property, construction and development projects. Of course, Smallman & Sons is delighted to join with property and construction professionals in celebrating these outstanding projects. Yet, as a Leicester-based firm providing building services nationwide, we’d like to see many more East Midlands construction companies involved in development projects being shortlisted and winning awards in the future.
Earlier on this year in March, representatives from East Midlands cities, Leicester, Derby and Nottingham launched their collaboration at MIPIM’s international property exhibition and conference, in Cannes in France. The aim of the ‘Power of 3’ collaboration was to have a more coordinated approach at Cannes, representing the opportunities that the East Midlands powerhouse has to offer to potential developers and investors. All three cities are keen to see many more development opportunities realised in the East Midlands, taking advantage of what’s on offer for investors, from technical, manufacturing, distribution and logistics capabilities through to business support through enterprise zones.
Recently recognised as one of the top ten UK regions with the most potential for new businesses, being represented at MIPIM internationally, and nationally at MIPIM UK, is crucial so that investors and property developers are made aware of the strong proposition offered by the East Midlands and the many property and construction businesses located here. Smallman & Co is hoping to be part of the the Leicestershire team heading out to Cannes to fly the flag for the East Midlands next year, so look out for us at MIPIM from 15-18 March 2016.
With major investment in the road infrastructure in the East Midlands and growth deals funded by more than £17million of Government investment in projects promised across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, we look forward to seeing a wide range of projects ahead, to unlock local growth and ensure our region prospers.
