New Bodega Cantina in Leicester City Centre

Bodega Cantina Leicester is a South American-themed bar and restaurant situated in St Martin’s Square serving a range of classic Peruvian and Ecuadorian inspired fare as well as street food favourites.

Smallman & Son worked on this exciting refurbishment project in association with Birmingham-based Faber Design and Architecture on behalf of the owners, Bitters ‘N’ Twisted Venues, who invested £200,000 in the redevelopment project and in doing so created 15 new jobs in the heart of the city.

bodega-redevelopmentThis job had a large proportion of demolition work as we converted the premises from a retail outlet to a modern, funky restaurant in just 7 weeks. We began by stripping out previous fittings in order to open up the floor space and create a blank canvas, with the whole of the 1st floor being taken right back to just the external walls, thus allowing us to introduce new partitions and structural steel supports. This was closely followed by a full re-decoration of the interior along with addition of new floor coverings throughout – totally transforming the premises.

This project was a typical fast track job, having been set the task of completing the job in time to handover to the client promptly, enabling them to meet their grand opening date deadline. Over the course of 7 weeks we had approximately 10 operatives on site each day including; joiners, plasterers, decorators, floor layers, electricians, plumbers, AC installers and general ground workers.
