Due to excessive water damage this project comprised of repairs to two bay windows due to severe decay in the timber beams. 

Upon further inspection the water had damaged adjacent bay roofs and had caused fractures in the brickwork and damage to stone mullions and transoms.

This project included various refurbishments in the lower medical block. 

Phase one included a disabled bath with hoist being fitted and the requirement for phase two was to supply and install wash hand basins and furniture – including cabinets, shelving and cupboards which all complied with infection control and hygiene standards. 

We also refurbished the shower rooms in this specialist unit.

To supply and fit Ultima PVC ceiling cladding to fifteen shower rooms located in house units 1 to 4.  Each ceiling was approximately 15 square meters.  

We worked closely with the The Estates Department who ensured that all shower rooms were clear of shower cubicles and all loose paint to the ceilings was removed before work begins.

The works briefly comprised of the refurbishment of the segregation block to enhance two cells to a standard suitable for overnight accommodation.

This project impacted other aspects of the adjacent areas and other works from fitting new doors to creating exercise yards were required.

The works comprised of the creation of additional car parking spaces for staff working at HMP Whitemoor to an approximate area of 25 x 20 m adjacent to the Training Dept and RID Unit access road.

This consists of digging out soft ground, installing concrete kerbing and compacting with suitable crushed base layer, with a plastic grid type surface finished by filling with pea gravel.

This is a High Security establishment and security clearance is required for all site personal which can take up to two weeks for approval.

This project consisted of creating a DDA toilet and room for a urinal from the existing prisoners toilet on Bravo Unit 2 and to create and extra toilet in the OMU office.

Smallman & Son Ltd have continued to be the preferred contractor for many projects at the HM Prison Service during 2010.  Long may it continue in 2011. 

Work continues with a classroom modification at HMYOI Brinsford and alterations to the Healthcare area.

The works for the HM Prison Services continues with the removal of the gas compound and bin store in the sterile area at HMYOI Huntercombe. 

This projects also includes general alterations, creation of new paths in extended exercise area and alterations to DDA cells.

We have been awarded the refurbishment project of the staff kitchen.

Works include the supply and installation of new kitchen, upgrading of power, lighting and ventilation.  Making good of all areas and decoration.

Smallman & Son Ltd have been awarded the safer cell contract at HMP Woodhill.  The project involves the refurbishment of cells in an ‘A Category’ prison.
